Decorative Painting
Decorative painting of borders, centerpieces, scrollwork and medallions.
One of the main considerations when developing decorative details is the existing decorative elements. Where possible, I like to use the forms or the styles of existing elements as a reference point for any additional decoration. This way I can be sure that the new decoration will be in harmony with the overall scheme.
In the absence of any such decorative starting point, it's usually a question of determining the period or style that is desired and designing the details to suit them. Sometimes, of course, there are no specifics and then it becomes a matter of establishing the right feeling.
Whichever route is used though, whether creating a centerpiece, or a border, the idea is to add character and interest.
